Potholes Translate to Business for Repair Shops

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has declared a war against potholes. In the meantime, local auto repair shops are happy to offer repairs for those impacted negatively by the potholes.

Multiple auto repair facilities in the Chicago suburbs are saying that they have more cars than they can repair at this time. Most are spending a great deal of time making repairs, providing estimates to potential customers and dealing with various insurance companies.

It is not uncommon for drivers to swerve to avoid a large pothole and end up with a flat tire or worse. The city is actually trying to make drivers aware of the fact that drivers who experience damage due to a Chicago pothole might be eligible for some form of compensation. According to Patrick Corcoran from the City Clerk’s office, car owners should go to the City Clerk’s website. There they can fill in all the pertinent information including the date and time of the event, the location and either proof of estimates or receipts for work done.

While the potholes in Chicago are bad, Lake County, Indiana had some that were so deep that portions of roads were actually closed.
